I'm new to the forum and need some help answering a question that's bugging me. I bought a Blizzard Pearl MIM 60th Anniversary standard strat 2 years ago second hand (mint condition). It came with the commemorative soft side case with the fender 60th Diamond patch on it and it has the commemorative neck plate. The only thing it doesn't have is the "60 Diamond Button" on the back side of the headstock. Serial # on the headstock starts with MZ6 xxxxx. In researching all of this I'm finding that some other non-commemorative 2006 fender guitars have this "60 Diamond" on the back of the headstocks. I'm assuming my neck is a latter 2006-2007 neck. Did they run short on the "60 Diamond" buttons? Does anyone know? This guitar sounds and plays great and the price was inline with MSRP.
thanks!

Hi,

I have one like yours and I'm almost sure that It was only produced within 2006. All guitars produced in that year msut had the conmemorative "pin" in the back of the headstock including this model, mine also has, so I guess that the former owner take It out. It seems not difficult to do It without leaving important marks.

By the way, congratulations, It is a great and beautiful guitar :D

Thank you, you're right, it is a beautiful guitar and it sounds great. I've looked for marks where the "button" should be located but can't find any. I'm thinking it's possible because of the serial number (MZ6) on the headstock, that they may have run short on the necks with the "button" and had to put a 06-07 neck on it. Curious to know if anyone with the "60 Diamond button" has had it fall off.

YES I think all made that year had the Diamond on the headstock. We have two here at the house.

ALL AMERICAN and MIM made in 2006 have the button on the back of headstock but if it is truly a 60th anniversary edition it will have a shiny diamond on the front of headstock and a 60th anniversary button on the rear and 60th the neck plate so if it has that shiny diamond on the front headstock then its the real deal ,,,

Partly correct- mine is the commemorative standard made in Mexico. Those did not have the "diamond" with the ribbon decal on the front of the headstock, only the American made commemorative ones do. I talked directly to Fender and no worries, mine is the real deal. I was told the adhesive used on the back "button" wasn't the greatest and mine fell off somewhere along the line. I love MIM strat. The guys in my band prefer it over my custom tele. If I don't bring my strat they tell me to bring my 1965 SG jr. I want to thank all of you for your help and wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
