Hey check this out gang, some guy went on a fender factory tour and took these pics. One of the pics it shows the total number of units per week at the USA plant, the finish on the EVH guitars, Charvel and Jackson in the same facility- I could go for hours. There are pics that will quash myths and rumours about the whole MIA vs. MIM debate too, and also various other fender amps and guitars :wink:

Also, interesting to see Custom shop necks sitting not far from the American series guitar necks... Hmm.

There are loads and loads of photos- pays to have a good look through them :wink:

Here it is:

Excellent find. Very interesting to see the two sites and how they compare.

That looks like a very interesting tour to take. I wonder how often it is available. :?:

Amazing photos.
Made in Mexico by Mexicans, Made in the USA by Mexicans.

I did notice that they seemed to be more safety conscious in Mexico than the US plant. In the Mexican plant they were ALL wearing masks and wearing hearing protection and even safety glasses. In the photos of the US plant, especially the sanding department, they were not wearing masks or hearing protection. Saw dust, especialy the fine dust from sanding is a known and listed cancer causing agent.

Still amazed that they allowed such access to their facilities and the unfettered photos, especially production numbers.

[quote="DeVinci13"]Amazing photos.

Yep, you noticed that too? As far as the masks go, they may have a better vacuum/ventilation system in the US as compared to Mexico so they really don't need the masks. I don't think they need to deal with the EPA and OSHA in Mexico either.

California is big on EPA stuff, tree hugging, air quality......

Last I heard, Fender no longer has tours. Something about safety and security.

I really enjoyed those photos. Watched them as a slide show. Since I'm a novice, I had thought I might have made some major concessions by buying MIM. After this, I'm not so sure.

There sure seemed to be a genuine concern for the product by what I could see. Let me add that I am retired from the manufacturing sector after 36 years at GE Transportation - Aircraft Engines and I have seen few facilities as clean and orderly as the plant they showed in Mexico. Considering the amount of dust they must make, I was amazed at the conditions.

Wow that was really interesting. I thought the production schedule "countdown" on 381 (i think) pretty interesting. Thanks for sharing.
