I'm brand new to this forum and have enjoyed parusing through some pages today. So, I thought I'd tell a quick story about what I just go for my 40th birthday.

I got a Fender Squier Strat. MIJ circa 1984-1987 for Xmas years and years ago. I never really played it much, which I regret now, of course. In 1996 I sold it to a friend of mine so I could afford to fly my wife, who had moved away a year before I could join her, home for a week. Low and behold I had a 40th bday bash last week and my friend gave it back to me!

Other than being blown away by this great gift, this thing looked exactly the same as it did in 1996. She played it periodically and took great care of it. Other than a pencil eraser sized divit I took out of it back when I got it, everthing looks great. I also got the original amp and case that came with it way back when from her as well (including the check receipt she kept all these years).

Now, I've tried to do some research on it here and elsewhere to try and find out what I've got and how much it's worth. It's an E79XXXX series MIJ. It looks like I have a solid guitar that my parents got me long ago. I've been playing and learning like a mad man this last week and am enjoying every minute of it.

Anyone else have one of these? I'll try to post pics some day soon, it's a nice deep blue color with I assume Rosewood (it's dark brown) neck. I am very stoked and ready to learn to play this thing, again...

Thanks!

I have a 1987 Squier MIJ. The fretboard is really dark, almost black, a lot darker than the normal rosewood, so not sure what it is.

Mine has the System I locking tremolo. it's in mint condition and pretty much stock. The only tyhing I changed on it is the pickup covers, knobs and switch tip, changed them to black.

It plays great though, very solidly built. This was my first guitar, bought it brand new in 1987.

Welcome to the forums, and Happy Birthday.

Im not familiar with that particular guitar, but I'm sure someone here will be. Just wanted to say Hi.
