My vote won't count because I haven't voted. The best guitar for me is the 4 that I have. 2 Fender Strats (1986 MIJ '82RI and 2006 Highway 1) and 2 Gibson's (2001 LP and 2006 CS-336).
It just depends on my mood and which one I pick up as to which one the best at any given moment.

I have the following guitars:
2002 American Strat (EMG DG20 pickups installed)
1997 PRS CE22 (Duncan JB/59 pickups installed)
2007 Gibson Les Paul Studio

They are each good for different things. I can't really say one is better than the other. Some days, it's like "I LOVE My Strat", others I won't play anything but the Les Paul.

When one considers the electric guitars, regardless of brand, that have attained iconic statis; it comes down to the Fender Stratocaster and the Gibson Les Paul. With the exception Of PRS guitars, many, if not most, follow either the Strat or Les Paul format.
In answer to which is the "best" guitar; ask youself what guitar would you take to a gig if you could only take one? For me that would be a Stratocaster. As much as I love the sound and the playing of a good Les Paul; it is the Strat that allows me to form my own musical voice and cover the greatest tone/sound range.

you are forgetting the Gibson Firebird.

its probably the most comfortable guitar in the world. I like how strats sound better, but the Firebird has that offset reverse body that forms a natural armrest for playing.

AMEN! I love birds! Firebird VII is my all time favorite guitar for anything. 3 mini humbucker pickups, vibrato, sleek thin mahogany body, unique, nice neck, gorgeous finishes, and high quality. Only downside, $2.5k down the drain. :(

I love my Strat, and my Es-335.

I got a Fender Deluxe player strat (mexico)
and a Gibson Es-335 faded cherry (standart)

I the strat, because i like that tone i can get out of it.
You can hear my strat here:

and you can here my Es-335:

i love them both very much, but the strat is the guitar of my life.

Hello, guys!
New to this forum, I am a guitar fan...
I have 4 electric guitars:
1993 Les Paul Studio
2000 Strat US
2005 Tele US
2003 Tele-Mex
Frankly, if I had to sell 2 of them, this would be the last 2. It's not that I don't like them, it's just that I play more with the 1st two...
Hope this helps,
Frenchie :)

I really really want to get a tele... which is why i voted for it... but obviously you didn't think when putting this poll on the fender website, and the stratocaster forum... lol, but there's something iconic about the les paul makes me like it as well, even though the necks are huge as heck!!

I don't know whic one I would choose. But I can tell you that it would be a toss-up between a strat and a les paul.

there is no best guitar.... every one of those guitars has uses which are better than the other guitars... i wouldn't use a LP for blues so much as a strat, but i wouldn't use my strat for too heavy of stuff that my LP does

i love both my guitars but recently i have been playing my fender over my les paul
they both sound and feel great, but because of the locking tuners on the fender it is so much easier to change the strings and that is the main reason, well and the fender contours to my body a little better

It still amkes sense tho, I play both teles and strats, and I'd play les pauls and sg's if i had access to them.
