I been a Gibson man until now.Its a 99 American standard and was never played.. I traded a asteroids stand up arcade game for the guitar... I had to load up the asteroids game (very heavy) in my van drive an hour not knowing if I was going to like it... I made it to the guys house and he pulled it out of the case and it looked brand new, no joke. It still had the plastic on the pick guard and back plate.. I only paid 100 bucks for the arcade game so basically I got the strat for 100.. forgive my bad writing.. I dropped out of school in second grade... :D

Congrats! That is quite a score! At that price I'd have settled for a worn neck and gutted body! Welcome to the Stratocaster family.

Congrats on the excellent score! Any thoughts yet on how it compares to Gibson, considering that's what you're used to?

Oh Jolly good form old chap.

I remember when that asteroids game came out, around 77. It wasnt very good then either. I think you got the better deal here.

That's an awesome score on two counts!

First, that's a great looking Strat in mint condition! (I really, really like the green!) Second, that it essentially only cost you $100 + some gas, is some extremely fine icing on the cake!

I was curious about the prices on the game, though. A quick google ... Retail shop - $1500. eBay - $500. So considering all the hassle it'd take to sell it in the open market, that's a mighty fine score. Congrats!

Congratulations on your first strat at such a good price, and condolences on the whole dropping out of school at second grade thing. ;-)

Thanks everyone for the nice comments.. I haven't touched my Gibson since. I dont know why I been against strats but Im in love with them now. I noticed there very easy to play and I love the bar.. I just bought a fender deluxe 1x12 40w all tube amp and the sound of the strat going through the new amp is awesome... Nothing wrong with the sound of a Gibson just needed a strat and I should of got one a long time ago. I cant get that strat sound out of my LesPaul and I said I would never play a strat but I lied..... I was up really late last night browsing through the forums and I love this place.. lots of information and good people.... My girl and her kids left me thanksgiving morning so I have lots of time on my hands now.. I live by myself and I was getting very depressed and I shouldnt let her get me down.. Im blessed with very nice stuff and found a new forum to hang around.. hope to learn lots from everyone here...... :D Jamie

Hey Peter

In a time of deep depression many years ago I found a lot of solace in guitar. Incidently I'd been somewhat opposite to you. I despised strats as being far too basic, prefering superstrats. A friend gave me a strat copy and I was sold.

BTW try that les paul through your fender amp. Forget the gibson/marshall rule, its just not as good as strat and marshall. The gibson/fender amp combo works like it was ordained by God though. They compliment eachother perfectly.

nice score.

Niki is right, strat marshall rocks hard. actually i have never understood why some people need to hate gibson to love fender or vice versa. I have guitars from 7 or 8 companies. my strat is my favorite, but that doesn't mean I don't love the others too.

I used to totally break with convention, and sometimes i would use my old Marshall for clean tones on a song, and use my Fender amp for the dirt. you would be amazed how good it can sound, and how you can leap out of the mix just by being a bit different.
