First of all I would like to thank you people for your interest on my post.
Second I would like to defend myself a bit, considering the post of ‘sonicsamurai’ that a deluxe is a tad excessive for just playing in my bedroom. Well, I have been playing the guitar for 25 years or so, with poor quality instruments, thaw loving every moment. After a 15 years hard work, I think I deserve a high quality instrument for playing in my bedroom.
Last I own an explanation to ‘84whiteONwhite’ with my misleading THREAD TOPIC "....A plastic issue question". I was thinking for myself, the lack of a pickguard on the Am. Dlx Hmt Hss, guessing that might be the reason for some people saying that hmt is not exactly the typical Stratocaster.
Thank you for your time and I want to state that I feel happy finding a forum with good people talking about our great love, Music and of course Fender.
Keep on rockin' in a free world...

Welcome.

1) Perhaps I misunderstood your THREAD TOPIC "....A plastic issue question" I read and re-read, but what is the question regarding "plastic" exactly? i am interested to know.

2) IMO, and this is all this is; my opinion. If you purchased a guitar from, and made by Fender, and it has Stratocaster printed on it; you have a real strat. I don't tend to agree, wholeheartedly (sp), with the purists of purists. My opinion is biased however, I LOVE the FMT's and QMT's. But I love all Strats.

3) I respectfully disagree with the thought that the Deluxe Strat is excessive for playing at home. It's no more excessive than the folks that have more than one Strat, but aren't "giggers" or "live performers". Besides, we don't know you... you may very well be pounding out music from your house and sending it to Nashville, or L.A. every month. I know folks like that... not everyone is meant to be on a stage, or in front of people playing. Just my opinion.

At any rate, I am curious about my first question.

Peace,

84

Thanks for the explanation... I understand now. And personally, I don't think any less of the Strat because it doesn't have the pickguard.

And he77 yes, you absolutley deserve this guitar after working and saving, regardless of your ability.

In all seriousness, PLEASE post pictures of it when you get it. I believe my wife has ordered me one for Christmas... QMT Tab Sunburst!

Hi all.
I am new to fender forum, as also a new “future, waiting for order…” owner of a Fender American Deluxe Strat® FMT HSS. I always wanted a Fender strat and in my mind I had the classic icon-form Strat. But when it came, a life time chance, to buy my first Strat, I fall in love (by picture)* with dlx fmt hss strat. It is a beauty and has all the tone aspects for my taste. “I play and recording in home, not live or gigs”. In your opinion, how far is that from having a “real” Fender Strat? I have noticed that in the web are picky comments about that guitar and sometimes people are in the mood of (...oh it is not like a real Strat...). I know that this is a personal affair issue, but I just wanted to hear your opinion.
Thanks for your time people and I apologize for any mistakes in my writing.

Here is my point of view. It is a real Fender Stratocaster. It made by Fender, it says Stratocaster on the neck, and has the same electrical stuff on it as any other MIA Stratocaster. What more needs to make it a "real" Stratocaster?

HSS vs SSS is a personal choice in my opinion. Pickguard vs no pickguard is also a subjective issue. The fact that you have one of the best, top-of-the-model guitars Fender has ever put out next to some high-end signature series and their Custom Shop guitars should not make this guitar inferior to anyone's eyes.

Gear snobs just think that their gear is the be-all in the guitar world. The fact is, it is their personal choice that has brought them to their particular gear and budget contraints to limit them to it as well.

Enjoy that Fender American Deluxe Strat® FMT HSS when you get it. I would love to see pics of it when it comes in.

Those are both stunning but your QMT is to die for! Simply gorgeous! I have a question for you, though (or any other QMT owner). Is the finish durable enough to resist pick marks? With my schizophrenic hands, I'd be afraid to play it with no pick guard.

it does show slight pick marks but i told myself the day i got it that i would never do anything intentional to "relic" it but I was going to play that thing the way it was MENT to be played , I use the small dunlop jazz 3 picks and sometimes the bigger white flexible dunlops (I cant remember off the top of my head 0.4 mm i think) so its not really a problem for me

if i was that concerned I could always put a big ugly pick guard over it  seriously, i dont see how putting a twenty five cent piece of plastic on top of that could possibly make it look better as far as pickguard vs no pickguard

im a farmer on a 2800 acer farm in the middle of winter, I play it every day on a cranked mesa sob. every time I take it out of its case and I wrap my hand around the neck I just smile, it doesnt get old. It is my number one without a doubt

you only have so much time on this planet to enjoy the things you enjoy. if you can afford to do it, DO IT! you would be a fool NOT to.

as far as gigging vs not gigging.......music is a sacred thing, does someone make better music if it is for sale???? no. so as a musician why not enjoy a fine instrument. you will get it then shake your head that you never got it sooner. for the record I dont play out and look at my guitars

so on that note.......I ordered one of the limited edition mesa boogie mark five combos in french flamed walnut at the end of october and it leaves mesa TODAY!! (the run is of 75 for the world, 20 sapele and 55 french flamed walnut) check them out on the mesa site

and for the record I am a gear $@!$ but not a gear snob, if all someone can afford is a squire starter pack then I say Play on brother, its about the music.for musicians a lot of people are way too condesending.this site is very good compared to some.

p.s amber or tobbacco sunburst? you know where I stand on that one
