Hey! I have been around setting the action and the relief on my MIM stratocaster to get the lowest possible action and make bending easier.. once I had it almost perfect I then decided to raise the action just a half turn.. and wow the bends were so easy now.. Does anyone has discovered the same effect? and could someone tell me if there's a setup for getting great easy bends? Thanks!

Your far better off with a decent string height for bends and chords, and even lead. Unless your going at near Yngwie speed theres really no need at all for a stupidly low action.

I agree, I like to "dig into" my bends. Really low action for me is more of a hindrance. I'd rather have a little higher action and go to a lighter gauge string.

Experiment...Thats how you find out what you like.Setting up guitars is all about making the guitar do what YOU want it to do.I constantly tweak my guitars as the weather and other factor are constantly changing them.

:D i did the same. its because your finger pushes up under the string to bend rather than pushes against the string onto the fret board

I like my action a tad high for the reasons Niki mentioned too.

I find really low action makes bends difficult also, as it makes you fingers want to slip on the strings. I find bends and cords easier weth a more average string height.

So what string heights are you guys talking about? I just got a MIM and the action seems to be mega high. Want to lower it but i am not sure whether to go to fender specs or higher
