They are model numbers 0134600387 and 0144600302. What is the difference? I cannot make this out from the website, apart from the obvious one that the more expensive item does not say "Made in Mexico" on the headstock.

Needless to say, I am planning to buy, and I am trying to figure out what I get for those extra 90 dollars.

This is where you can fond the two models in question:

http://www.fender.com/products/search.p ... t=msrp+asc

The second and fourth items are both called "Standard Stratocaster" - but i cannot see what the difference is.

I think it would be more helpful to give the model's name rather than the number.

The 014 model is the new "upgrade" model in the MIM Standard range.

" Standard Stratocaster® (Upgrade) 0144600 The sounds that create legends! The Standard Stratocaster offers legendary Fender tone combined with classic styling that includes three single-coil pickups, a synchronized tremolo with high-mass bridge block, shielded body cavities, and medium jumbo frets. New features include a tinted neck, parchment pickguard/control knobs, and a 70's-style logo. The Standard Strat - plug one in and hear for yourself! "

You also get a gig bag with them however I am not sure if that is a new thing or if you got a gig bag with the "old" model as well....

I've just given the link above to the two models - both called the same - "Standard Stratocaster". I would appreciate if anyone could explain the difference.

+1 The difference won't effect the tone or playability of the guitar. It's all cosmetic. Wouldn't be worth 90 bucks to me. YMMV

Those are both MSRP.
From what I've been seeing you'll pay around $439 for a basic
MIM Strat. Lower at GC if you haggle a bit :D
