I'm wanting to do a old time blues recording..Like the old time delta players use to do..

I know this is off topic but there are several people on this forum that i really respect there opinion and suggestions..

What im wanting to use is something like an old Supro 63 amp or an old Fender Champ just bare bones tube amp no effects..

I love the modern days Ibanez, Gretsch and Hagstrom hollow bodies but they just aren't giving me the vibe i'm looking for..

A fellow blues player here in town came into a gig awhile back and he had a Aldens Airline single neck pickup chambered hollowbody that almost looked like a toy but it had tone all day..This is the type guitar im looking for.
Some of the brands i have thought about is Harmony ,Kay,National,Memphis,Airline,Univox,Electra..Just to give you all an idea..
But i have very little experience with this type guitar..So im unsure what to look for.And which ones to stay away from.

I have also come to the realization that i will most likely end up buying over the internet because there is not much to be had of these type guitars in the stores around here or in the pawnshops..

If anyone has a good knowledge of the type guitar that im trying to describe can you suggest a few to keep an eye out for..

Also if you have any ideas on amps other than the ones i previously mentioned.Or anything that could be helpful..I would be thankful for any help in this matter..

Well I would suggest this one, but I think it would be against forum rules.

But it's not electric, if that's wat you're looking for.

Build an electric cigar box guitar! Doesn't get much more raw than that.

If you can find and old Silvertone, SF Champ or even a Danelectro DM10 you'll be in business.

You need to get intouch with forum user Allthumbs for cigarbox guitars. He's built one that looks divine.

This isn't really vintage per say, but it's a sweet axe for just a notch above $500.

Gretsch G5120

I've played this at a guitar shop and I was pretty impressed with the action and feel of it. The pickups were real clean sounding with a lot of mid.

Harmony has a few based on Aldens specs. I've seen a few around for decent prices. The H37 (based on Aldens 9930) and the H45 (based on Aldens 9908).

Takamine's G or EG series may be what you're looking for at the price mentioned.

Good luck in your search!

This is why i asked here i never even knew ESP made this type guitar..The Harmony /Alden H45 is what i believe the guy i was talking about in the OP was playing..
The Gretsch 5210 i already own although it has great tone it is giving my exactly what i'm looking for ..In this case the Gretsch sounds alomost to Jazz based..
I'm looking for a warm rough tone if that makes any sense it is really hard to say what is i'm looking for in words ..Maybe a thin body acoustic with a P90 neck pickup tone would be the easiest way to describe it..

How the Fender neck/headstock got put onto this guitar is beyond me. Dont know if the WF is a bolt or not.

Anyway, seems like a good place to start, for cheap.

Scratch that, I read that the headstock was reshaped, and that the decal reads "Ferden."

I actually really like.

As Cazz said you can sometimes old Harmonies at a low price. The old Harmony and Harmony Sovereign acoustics were popular in the 30s&40s with blues players because they were cheap and sturdy and had a funky sound. The old Harmony acoustic electrics however are becoming more collectable hence more expensive lately.
