really enjoying this guitar now. It indeed needed a good amount of time in setting up and intonation but its good to go and I would say I am pretty satisfied.

im not 100% sure but i think it would say Jimmy Vaughn somewhere on the neck like the clapton, buddy guy,and so on and also if you remove the pickguard i dont think there are those tiny little drill holes near the middle pickup it should just have the 3 single pickup routes and no other holes under the guard ,, hope this answers that MIM thingy

I am still not totally convinced of the authenticity of this guitar however I love the way it plays and the dimarzio pickups sound great. I can tell the second string tree was a added mod to maybe help the string angle. At this point I am just accepting what I paid for a maybe mutt guitar.

What leads you to believe its something other than it claims to be mate?

Looks pretty authentic to me.

The string trees are American Standard types. The Vaughn has a single butterfly. Well thats easily explainable, the previous owner obviously prefers them and added 2. No doubt to try and eliminate square wave open G. The serial no being worn/scratched off could be part of the relic job. Which I must say looks to be a good job too. Particularly for a polyester finish. I wish I could get my black strat to look like that.
