Hi all, i recently saw a video from one of the namm shows, where a Fender company rep explained a list of improvements in the newest fender guitars. These axes are touted to have been completely redesigned, having improved components all over the guitar. I'm hoping some folks here own both the newest model and an earlier year for comparison, and have opinions on wether the upgrades are great or not, and if the classic fender tone is still faithfully preserved. Thanks!

Here's one about some bass upgrades- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sl3ybVLnHl0

I just tried to find the one i saw before, but no luck. They mentioned more of the improvements of the bridge saddles etc. in that one, and They went into a lot more detail about all of them.

Here's another, more model specific, but cool!

No it isn't sorry, hey, i tried for a good while, and couldn't find the one i had originally seen some time back. It contained only the company rep at the fender booth listing and describing in detail, the new upgrades for either the 2008 or 2009 models that would be standard equipment on the American standard Strats. That's all i know, hence my question, does anyone have any experience/opinions on these new features like the bridge saddles with new metal alloys etc?

The bridge saddles being "upgraded" is a total joke. They're nearly identical to the originals, and more than likely insanely cheaper to make. Down at my local shop, we've all come to the conclusion that it's total marketing BS and done to save a buck. If the new saddles were really "better", then why do they keep the old saddles on the Deluxe models?

It's all a ploy, these new Strats cut corners in all the right places to keep the guitars more affordable and playable. Nobody will pay $2,000 for a standard strat anymore.

I'm not saying they are, I'm saying that if the guitar didn't change, they may have to.

If they didn't cut costs on the American Stratocaster line, the costs will eventually rise. I bought my American Strat NEW in 2001 for $850. Cutting costs via cutting materials ensures that the price you pay stays relatively stable, though you're not getting as much for your money.
