Could anyone help me find the whereabouts of a Starburst 1954 Fender Stratocaster Plate # (0302).
I am trying to track down My Grandfather's 1954 Fender Strat. My grandfather gave his prized guitar to my father before he died. Then my father owned the guitar up until he was forced to sell it in the 80's. My father has never forgiven himself Ever since the day he regrettably sold his fathers strat. So now I’m trying to track down my grandfather's Strat. I know what it is worth. and it would greatly be appreciated if anyone could even tell me the wear bout’s of the Strat.

Thanks again
Mark

Contact George Gruhn, Gruhn Guitars. If it's been up for sale or through an auction, chances are he's seen it, or heard about it.

so does your father have the type of money to even buy this guitar back? assuming you find this needle in a haystack, the price tag on it would be outlandish and given the condition/kept stock, probably a low six figure price tag

Even if you do find it the, current owner might not want to sell it to you unless you offer major bucks over price.

I Know the value of it don't you worry about that. This guitar was purchased buy my Grand father in 54, and was kept in the family until my father was forced to sell it in the 80's for his family. Then my father started his own buisness in the 90's. Now Im trying to track it down and buy it off the current owner if they are willing to sell it. The guitar means a little more than just a valuable stratocaster.

Like I Said "I know what it's worth"

"so does your father have the type of money to even buy this guitar back? assuming you find this needle in a haystack, the price tag on it would be outlandish and given the condition/kept stock, probably a low six figure price tag"

I wish you the best of luck in finding that guitar.

Here's a suggestion: buy yourself a copy of Vintage Guitar magazine (in fact, you might be able to get one free copy from them, check out their website). Then write/call/email all of the dealers with ads in the magazine and let them know what you are looking for.

Ditto with the Vintage Guitar Mag. idea,I subscribe and it's THE go to resource for vintage guitar enthusiasts. Some advertisers offer to track down guitars of any vintage and have their feelers out for rareities especially ,I would imagine they would expect a finders fee though.

Well obviously the money does not seem to be a problem and if it is not a problem. This might sound odd but hire a private detective and give him all the info and the last person who bought the guitar from your father. Believe me they will have the best chance of tracking it down.

Ok I will try. everything that everyonw told me. Then if I have to I will call a detective. Also one of the major problems is my father sold it to a music store who went out of buisness.

Thanks again
Mark
