Well it stands a good chance that someone here knows what it is. However were not a bunch of psychics and would need to see pictures. Please upload them to photobucket

http://photobucket.com/

Once uploaded. If you hover the mouse cursor over the image you want a group of codes will appear in a boxed section. Select the code that is surrounded by copy that and paste it into your reply here.

Maybe an early neck from 1970, it had the same patent numbers, but added a 3rd later in the year. Don't know if the truss rod cover was like that in 1970 though.

Sorry about that, the pictures must of taken a long time to upload onto my screen. No doubt because of their size.

Anyway it looks a legitimate 68-79 neck. I cant be more specific than that though.

Heres the pictures re-sized for anyone else unable to see the wood for the trees as it were.

It looks like any date was removed with the microtilt plate. Someone may be able to get something from the 3-28 marking. It could just be march 28th though.

One thing I find quite disconcerting is the nut slot. It appears to be flat and showing maple towards the middle.

I don't know, from what I read, they used those 2 patent numbers from mid-68 until mid-70, but didn't use the bullet truss rod nut until 71. So I don't know.

No, that's not exactly a date. That 3=28 is a marking found on Japanese necks, Tokai, if I remember correctly. So there's a good chance that decal is a counterfeit. See this older thread. And check this out: http://www.tokairegistry.com/pics.php?pic=2

The 3 does mean March, but the 28 is a batch number. The year would be gleaned from the serial number ...

Yes, the neck was probably from a 3-bolt 70's Reissue copy that was converted to use on a 4 bolt body.
