I have a vintage style bridge on my strat deluxe players series. I just got the guitar and i am going to replace the tuners with locking tuners but i wondered if that would be enough to keep the vintage bridge in tune with moderate trem. use? I was thinking of switiching to a HipShot bridge but only if the vintage wont stay in tune.

I have a standard mexican strat with the six screw vintage style bridge and my tremolo never gives me tuning problems. A few years ago I took the original tuners off and put vintage klusons on, no tuning problems. I keep my bridge completely flush with the body (not floating) with the spring claw tightened up a bit (alot more than average) and I can take my tremolo arm and dive bomb all the way to the pickguard and still not have any problems.

I think as a guitar gets older, everything settles in and stays adjusted better. It's like it has to go through a breaking in period.

I agree with the last blog. Also, once the strings get properly stretched it should stay in tune just fine.

With a proper setup the stock vintage trem will be just fine.

Tuning problems are rarely due to the trem..
Most often tuning problems are due to the nut.
check out your nut to make sure it is cut correctly.
