Doc, there were several of them but my old mind can't recall the titles. I guess if you did a search on the CS forum you could find everything Gilmour. I'm just lazy!!

The OP doesn't seem interested anymore as he's not posting!

Interesting! Sure looks the same.

Wonder were the logos swapped or did they just produced the same guitar and market it under two different marques. Also..MN5 would be'95, and the seller calls it '96.

It looks like they discontinued that Squire series fender like that on ebay in 1998. Even looks as if they made left handed ones in Black and a Sunburst.

Don't understand. :? Didn't he state in his first post that he absolutely loves it. :?: So it's a Squier. :!: So now what? He wants to slap a $375 prewired power plant on the guitar and then entertain an offer

Don't want to rain on his parade but If he wants The Black Strat then $3900 will get him one of the finest guitars Fender ever built. Lite'nin, Snowy, myself and others will testify to that. The DG-20 in a red or white '57RI is the next best shot.

I had it in a file in my computer. On my post "The Sound From Heaven" 30 November 2008, Bluestube posted the link....The Tone From Heaven. The OP will have to search the Forum Archives for it. I can't write it out presently.

Doc,

You misunderstand; or perhaps you are reading too much into the post.

Yes, I do love the guitar.

The reason I would sell it (which has crossed my mind recently) is not because its a Squire; but because its maybe time to upgrade and/or take on a build of my own.

I wouldn't go posting pictures of it in the penny saver...but if someone was interested in it, I would certainly entertain a number.

Thats all. Try not to read any more into it...i am not that deep

Oh btw just saw you on Long Island...me too :D over in Wantagh

Regret to have appeared a bit over the top. It's not usually my style. When I'm writing after a 20 hour day sometimes my sensibilities are a tad dull.

Anyway, if you have not yet already done so, find the link to the Tone From Heaven on the post from Bluestube noted above. Also try www.tonefromheaven.com. See the stuff Cornish built for David. There's a photo of the stage rig which was built for "Pulse". It is most humbling for anyone pursuing 'that sound'.

Also take a moment to have an appreciation for his sidemen if you have not already done so. Tim Renwick, who did "Pulse", is a real veteran and has worked with the best, notably Clapton in the earlier years. You can see him go head to head with Eric on "Cocaine" in the Boston Arena about 30 years ago. Find that on YouTube. He's also in the band which did Live Aid. Of course, his present second guitarist needs no further introduction.

With respect to your location...I am in Commack. Perhaps we'll consider a meet up either at Sam Ash or Guitar Center off Old Country Road. There are a few other Long Islanders and NY area members. It would be nice to arrange something local amonst these. I've started doing something of the kind down in the Fort Lauderdale area when I'm there on R'nR.

Doc

The simple fact is the squire series mexican guitars are fender guitars not squires. The logo says FENDER squire series. Not Squier fender series.

Aside from the trem, tuners switch and pots all other parts are MIM fender. Hence the black truss surround and fender sized body. Ceri would be having a hard time matching a fender template to that burnt body on the other thread if it was a squire body, their smaller. Heres my favourite headstock on the favourite neck of all the guitars I own, (customshop and hotrod included)

Image

Squire series guitars came out of Ensenada from 92 right up to 98, long after squire had departed for the far east.

That would be very cool.

I am going on my 10th year with this Gilmour obsession...Nobody gets it!

Especially my wife  Anyway, after so many years, I guess you can say I am a self proclaimed Tone "expert" on his rig. I just have to learn how to make a barr chord and ill be ready to go on tour lol

Some of my favorite sites are;

Oh Tone From Heaven is John Rosco's website: http://www.tonefromheaven.com/

http://www.gilmourish.com

http://www.gilmoursguitars.com (Mine)

BTW: forgot to acknowledge JasonSD's ID of it as a Fender Squier on the first page. But it was a good call, as his and Niki's photos show.

Regarding your photo, Nick: I presume that's the Earvana nut, right? You're not making your own ones in graphite now - are you?

Cheers - C

PS: oh and to GilmoursGuitars, in reference to something you said in an earlier post, there is no Private Messaging on this Forum, so don't be surprised when you don't hear from people that way. None of us quite understands why the PM button is still there...

For what it's worth, that little oval gold and red name plate is on the back of a Chinese Squier Strat headstock I bought new some 13/14 years ago. It should read: "Fender - celebrating 50 years of excellence 1946 1996"

I dug out the original tuners which I quickly replaced at the time. They're exactly the same as the ones on your guitar.

But I still play that Squier most days. It's been a test bed for a whole series of mods and has been the victim of some poor tool handling by me whilst learning. It's the guitar I take to dodgy gigs - the guitar I always feel I could afford to lose. It has a neck like a baseball bat. It lives in a corner of my sitting room and is often covered in dust. It's never been in a hard case since the day I bought it. It is to all intents and purposes a dog and it can be swine to play. But it never lets me down.

If you had to take my Strats off me - take my Classic 60s or my Highway, but leave me my Squier OK?

Ceri

Its just an old photo.

Adey

Its funny how cheapo knockabout guitars become so personaly valuable isnt it. I'm sure my squire series is junk, yet I couldnt be without it. I've worn half inch off the radius of the fretboard. Its a 10" radius now.

Yes indeed Nikki..

We should start a thread of old pigface warrior guitars we own and love. With pictures of instruments that shouldn't be allowed out in polite guitar playing society.. Anti guitar porn as it were..
