Hi everyone,

I bought a 2008 American Deluxe Stratocaster used a year ago and I'm still debating whether it's ash or alder body. It has cherry burst finish and I can't see that option for the Alder Deluxe Strats. Has Fender ever released cherry burst color Alder Deluxe strats? (in 2008)

Inside the body there is a sticker that has the part code on it. It reads

0059204-631.

I looked at Ash Deluxe Strat specs on Fender website and the code listed there for the cherry burst version was 0059204-531.

Can someone clarify whether this is an ash body or alder? Is there an easy way to check?

Thanks.

The color code for the aged cherry sunburst is 31. As far as the rest of that number is concerned, I don't know what it means, but I'm under the impression that those finishes are normally on ash.

Thanks for the info.

Anyone else? This is very important. I guess I need someone who actually works at Fender guitars.

No, and your guitar is an American Deluxe Ash Stratocaster in Cherry Burst. :D
