I like the story but in the million interviews I have read with Clapton on the recording of Layla I never heard him talk about a similar guitar used during those sessions. There are many photos of those sessions and it is Brownie that is on the back of the album. I would believe this could be answered very easily by Clapton himself. I would believe Chris would be able to have mutual contacts to have this looked into, and with a 65 pup in the middle position would kind of ring a bell if it is true as the guitars were not that old when Layla was recorded.The other thing that strikes me odd is that in 93 someone selling a guitar by a Beatle which carries the aura of being used on Beatles recordings or live performances for those possibilities, it is hard to believe someone selling a Harrison guitar for $100 more than an 83 PRS, does that make sense.

Also February 24th is the date the 93 Grammys were held and Clapton reached the height of his super stardom by taking home 6 awards and was in another stratosphere as a performer. It would be hard to believe that at that moment anyone would be selling a Clapton guitar that was played on Layla for below value of a regular vintage 63 Strat. I would love for the story to be true but if I look at things in black and white everyone is out to make the most they can off of something and these numbers would not add up.

That story is ridiculous and obviously written by some sort of weird groupie.

I'm completely unimpressed and frankly don't believe a word of it.
