Who wouldnt love that guitar! I got a new American this summer, and I still am playing it all I can. If you are in Madison, theres a great luthier at Ward Brodt music - Scott Boyd.

I took mine there to have the tremolo set up for heavier strings, and to have him adjust my tremolo a little stiffer and set the strings as close to the neck as possible - he did not disappoint - well worth the hour's labor! It plays even sweeter now! What kind of bridge is that - its entirely different than mine.

Hey thanks so much guys, for so many great comments! It really makes the whole deal that much sweeter, getting the nod from so many of you! I can see that i have discovered a true brotherhood of serious fenderphiles here, and i am one happy camper!

Rockingeezer, i have no clue what kind of bridge i have, do you think it's other than stock?

UPDATE: I found some pics of several other 97' strats, and they all have the same bridge as mine, so i guess mine's a stocker. Cheers!

Thanks Toronado, for the welcome! Is that a picture of an American deluxe tele under your name?! Cheers!

Yes it is actually - it's identical to the one I have. So that avatar was an easy choice for me

I thought so, there's one hanging on the wall behind the checkout desk(so's no one handles her) at the madison wi GC, and OH, MAN! talk about drop dead gorgeous! i believe it's a cherry cola sunburst? I must own her, i tell ya! I may never be able to decide for sure, which i love more, the Tele, or her sister, the Strat!
