I have a mexican Fender Deluxe Player's Strat, but i cannot seem to find out when it was made.. Can some1 help me out (serial : MZ21 + 5 digits or MZ2 + 6 digits)

M means its Mexican.
Z means its from the 2000 to 2009 decade.
2 mean the 2nd year of that decade 2002.

But on the website it says

MZ2 + 5 Digits is made between 2002-2003
But my serial number is MZ2 + 6 Digits

Im confused

And one more thing.

The more modern fenders seen to have a very pale coloured wood on the neck.
But mine has a tanned maple neck.....

The aesthetics of the guitar make little to no difference to its age. Particularly with urethane finish's. The number of digits is of little relevance. The mexican plant look to produce around 3500 guitars a week judging from the target board pictured on a factory tour. Thats a yearly target of around 180000 guitars a year. 2002-2003 is from 1st January 2002 - 31st December 2002.

For a day specific dating take the neck off the guitar. It will be written or stamped on the heel of the neck and on the floor of the neck pocket.
