Guy is selling a 62 reissue in fiesta red for $950, said it's about 5 years old. Said it's mint, but without the original pickguard.

I like that color and it's got a nice case. I say make an offer if you love it.

It looks sexy but is it real?

I might go look at it tomorrow, so I guess I'll find out then, but I assume it's a real reissue. I just see too many in fiesta red.

Another guy has this guitar for sale
http://cgi.ebay.com/1996-Fender-Strat-S ... 25579a5b2f

He has it on ebay for $929, but lockally on craigslist for $800. Only thing is the laquer is chipping off in places on the neck.

And I like how the guy blocks out the serial number on the neck but not on the hang tag. lol.

I'd go for the vintage white, that is a super killer color and you don't dee to many of them. you got a pic of how the laquer is chipped off?

looking a the grime build up under the tangs I'm wondering if this might have been caused by an amateur refretting? Maple neck's clear coat and even the wood chips off very easily along the edge if one's not careful.

You could fill it and refinish it if you feel like this is the buy for you. Does it affect the play at all? Is there any buzzing or dead spots on and near the chipped material? If it doesn't affect the sound then it's just a matter of how much looks matter to you. I personally like the look Fender maple neck that shows wear in the finish between the frets. Take a look at David Gilmour's white Strat.

My 1994 Tele has grime and chips in the lacquer like this. I have never refretted and it doesn't affect the playability.

I haven't played it. I just say it on craigslist. Might try to look at it tomorrow, if I go look at the other one, because they're both far from me, but not too far from each other.

it's probably just cosmetic, and doesn't effect play, but I would just worry about more of it chipping off. The ads say the body is mint though, and that's the olnly problems with it. He had it on craigslist for about 3 weeks, and his ad on ebay is almost up, so maybe I can get it for less.

that vintage white white looks awesome.
that is aged lacquer that is chipping off the fretboard.
i wouldnt worry or concern too much on that.
gives it alittle attitude.

Well, I didn't make it out to look at those guitars today.

I did buy a couple of old guitars today though.

I got a 1944 Harmony Archtone archtop acoustic in really good condition, and one called a kawai for Japan? It looks like it's from the 60's and looks similar to the bobkat type of harmony guitars.

I don't have pics yet, but here's a link to pics of the same type of harmony acoustic if anyone wants to check them out.

I'd go for the white especially where it has the Lace pups,it should sound deadly.Good buy on the Harmony Archtone,I have a 66 Sears/Harmony Archtone and it sounds sweet, can't wait to see pics.I vaguely remember Kawai guitars I believe they made keyboards too and still do.

I have seen the finish come off like this but I also seen it crack off in this manner because of a bad fret job filing the sprouts and catching the finish to start it along.
