I recently saw a video on youtube, where the Fender rep spoke at one of the most recent namm? shows, of how the newest models 2009? have been improved quite a bit over any previous models, in that they have had several components of the new model completely redesigned. Does anyone have any more information or opinions about this? Thanks!

i recently bought a 2009 ash stratocaster american deluxe (faded cherry sunburst) and, can tell theres quite a bit of improvements. for one, the pickups seem more powerful and completely noiseless (cobalt magnet pups i believe) the s-1 switching is really cool too if you like to experement with getting diffrent sounds outta the guitar. the bridge/trem/ locking tuners seem to work very well. i can get a bit violent with the trem bar and it stays mostly in tune. the tone controls seem diffrent than the older units too. and, the coating on neck is much much smoother and slicker than prevouis years. at least in my experience. also, the bridge has been imporved quite a bit too with the height set screws recessed in saddles to keep from shredding your hand while shredding on the guitar. when i went into guitar store i was looking for 70s american reissue strat with ash body but they were out but im glad now that i bought this one cos its much better playing and sounding guitar off the shelf i.m.o.
