My '74 strat had Schallers on it (already on it when I got it), and I never had any problems with them. They were great, and did their job without any hassles.

My brother's ESP (George Lynch relic'd 57 strat replicsa) has Sperzels, and I can't say that I care much for them. Not on a strat-style guitar, at any rate.

Just my two-cent's worth. :D

I love those satin chrome locking tuners they used years ago- does anyone know if they were schallers?

I like the schallers. They feel solid and stay in tune on my strat.

Yes they were. Sperzel also do a satin chrome locker but I don't recall Fenders ever coming with Sperzels as stock - though I stand to be corrected.

I like both Sperzels and Schallers, and I think the locking version of Gotoh's 510 tuners works well too.

And Planet Waves and Grover also do lockers, if someone is on a search. There are many other versions too, though they mostly turn out to be manufactured by one of the above...

Cheers - C

I have not used Spertzel's, but I do have a set of Schallers. I also have Planetwaves on my daughter's guitar. I absolutely love the Schallers.

Hey tagg, you got plenty of replies to this one. Good for you. Looks like Schaller wins. Is Schaller the one that needs a larger diameter hole to mount?
