I just got my First American Standard Strat in Sienna Sunburst and LOVE IT! When you take the trem arm out and tilt the guitar the spring falls out. They say to put tape over the hole. Is there any other way? Do they make a plug for it?

No plug that I know of. I use a small cut out refrigerator magnet piece to cover mine. It holds well. You can also use masking tape. I done that and it works.

It's too bad Fender recommends taking off the trem to store the guitar in it's case where I keep it when I'm not playing it. I don't really use the trem either so I keep the spring and bag it in a safe spot. Somebody must make something to plug the hole. Try Stew-Mac.

Thanks, I'll try Stew-Mac. If not maybe when I take the trem arm off I'll also take out the spring and keep them together.

Haha tremendous idea thanks for that one Stratbrat. I've never used the spring primarily because I dont want to lose it. Now the fridge magnets are gonna get cut down.

I bet their not strong enough a magnet to damage the bridge pickup in anyway either.

Hi all, i just bought a used strat, with the trem arm off, and in the little pick/tuner/capo/whatever compartment, with a little black spring about the size of the threaded end of the trem arm, and oh, 5/8" long or so. At first, i thought it was an extra spring from the intonation adjustment screws. Then i saw this group of posts, so i need to know for sure that the spring i described is in fact for the trem arm. I am also curious as to how it works, and what the benefit is of having it in place. Sorry, still more, is one supposed to spin the trem arm into the mechanism (with the screw in the hole) to just before it gets real tight, and just leave it swing some? Thanks very much!

DM

Put the spring in and tighten the trem arm just until you feel a little tension. Enough to keep the arm in place but not so's you have to arm wrestle the trem every time you want to use it.

Personaly I dont use the spring.

Thanks guys, i only found my little spring by chance, feeling around in the compartment in my case, I must say, it's really a blessing finding great folks around here that are willing to help someone with their knowlege. I hope to be able to do the same for others sometimes. :D
