Either a Standard or a Highway 1. From there you have to decide on a Stratocaster or Telecaster.

That sounds like a good order.

1. Model
2. Fretboard Material
3. Color

Color to me should not weigh into the equation as much as the first two. If you can find your color and it's the best player out of the bunch, then you've hit the trifecta. If you're ordering it online, well then your sort of gambling in my opinion. If possible, it's better to play as many as you can and find the one that suits you best.

When I'm shopping for a guitar, I research all the specs and compare models. Coming here is a good decision you've made as well. If you're specific enough, there are plenty of knowledgeable players who will give you insight and advice. Have fun in your search.

Any color Strat is a good Strat :D

I'm not a fan of Black Strats myself but I know lots of people who are.

 If you can afford it buy an American Standard.
 If the Am Std is too pricey get a Highway 1
 If the most you can afford is a Made in Mexico Standard, they are good too.
 If the MIM's are out of your price range, get a Squier Classic Vibe Strat (I actually like them MORE that the MIM Standards)

You need to try them all and decide what fits your needs. Fender makes more than just Strats and Teles. Only YOUR ears and hands can tell which model to get. The guitar will find YOU. I've never followed anyone's suggestions when it comes to guitars. It's too subjective and personal. Color is the last thing on my list. I'll never pass up a great guitar over color.

You have an idea of what you want and what you can spend. Now go to a guitar store and play everything within and 10-15% over your budget. You should be able to haggle them down. YOUR guitar will speak to you, and you will hear it and feel it when you play it. You will know. If none of them seems to be right, try other brands or another store. And don't be afraid to look below your price range too. Keep an open mind.

Happy hunting.

Great choice, but if it's not too late, black will show up fingermarks, sweat, the lot... and will only look good if you keep wiping it down. Depends on whether this will drive you nuts... it would me.

Seems like a high price, but maybe that's what you pay over there? I bought mine new a month ago for the equivalent of about $1200.00.

I gotta say that price does seem pretty high. I thought they were going for about $1100 to $1200 at the most. Maybe I'm wrong, I'm not sure. I got my new American for less than a thousand but that was taking advantage of a great deal I got at my local guitar shop.

Black is way down on the list of colors I like in a axe, and my US is exactly like the one you are looking at. Just feels great with sound to match.
Color shouldn't be the most important thing, but you have to like looking at it and it is growing on me.

Go used in mint condition. You save money, there won't be as much of a drop-off in value, and you might be able to step up even higher on the fender foodchain (I bought my 57 AVRI, not one scratch on it, for $1200 out the door, much better that $2000). Either that or wait until after Christmas sales, when everyone returns gear that gets marked down.

It depends on what you music you play. What colors you like. What features you want. What is your budget?

I hope you find "the one" for you. Please let us know what you decide on.
