My second and current guitar is a highway 1 strat. I've had it for almost 6 years. it has a wounderful sound and feel to it. Unfortunately it has really dissapointed me.

For the last 2 years it hasn't sounded very good, alot of fret buzzing and rattling. I finally got around to taking service center and they worked wounders with it. Still, the low e string buzzed like crazy. I got a note back with the reciept that suggested refretting. When the tech guy called me, he also said the neck was a little warped.

Should a refret a warping neck?

So, i need to buy a new one i guess. I'm very dissapointed in fender that a guitar that i loved and took excellent care (and payed a pretty penny for!) didnt last very long.

I would like to know if anyone else has had this problem. I would also like to know if this is covered by warrenty.

Any suggestions on necks? hopefully better than the one it came with!

Get a second opinion on whether or not the neck is warped.

Before you completely give up on the neck, try tweaking the truss rod some. It could flatten the neck out, and and it could make the problem worse. But if you're getting a new neck, it won't matter if you damage the old one, and you might even be able to fix it.

it doesnt help. when i got it back form the guitar tech, he intonated it, set the string height, action, truss rod.

it still sounded bad because it needs to be refretted. however i dont want to refret a warped neck.

the point is i need advise on necks, not maintence at the moment.

I'd say go with a new neck for the guitar. Keep the old one because it could straighten back out with time.

Check out ebay, there's a store called 'The STRATosphere' on there who's got all kinds of necks, bodies, and hardware.

I just bought a MIM neck from them. They seem pretty reasonable.
