After reading the who is greatest guitar player ever thread ..I just had to defend the honor of my hero Esteban..
Lets look at some facts of why he is better than Hendrix..
1..Although Jimmy wore some outlandish and sometimes not very color coordinated outfits he never walked on stage dressed like Zoro..Think about what that would do to your self confidence..I have stage fright enough but to hit the stage dressed like swashbuckling hero of days gone by can only be done by one man...
2..Why he is more of a innovator then Eric Clapton ..I dare you to find one time when Clapton put a Flamingo lick in a great classic like house on the rising son..Only one man has had the forethought to do something like that and that is Esteban
3..Who is a better instructor than Mel Bay ...Why of course Esteban..From just watching one half hour infomercial laying in your bed you to have learned great songs by Skynard ,CCR and The Beatles
4..What guitar player is more of a humanitarian then Cat Stevens?You know the answer Esteban..What other musician has sacrificed so much for the masses?Who else has brought guitars into the home of more people at a greater expense to themselves than Esteban..He is bring these fabulous guitars into your home that the highest quality a sweatshop can produce with very small profit on his part..Just so he can give the gift of music..
So what do you say let us all give Esteban his due and recognize him as the greatest guitar player of all time..All are welcomed to add there reasons as to why Esteban has touched them in some way..Other than small children and elderly women we don't need to go there...


Please excuse all spelling error's but i will leave them up for your enjoyment i even laughed at myself when i was corrected on my Flamingo instead of Flamenco lick ..As for now im going to go back to playing my Flamingo licks

Esteban is good. The guitars he was selling on his infomercials were not. However, what would one expect for a hundy.

If this doesn't entice SlapChop back to the forum, I will be forced to admit that he's gone forever.

I know this guy is the butt of more jokes than CC Deville in the guitar world, but I give him some kind of credit for bringing the guitar to a lot of people I was amazed when it came out that he was a created character but the guy can play. I know his guitars are cheap knock offs but he sure did offer a lot for $199 with all the instructional dvds. strap, picks and a little amp. I mean you would have to be mentally challenged to think you were getting high quality gear at that price.lol

Believe it or not I know 3 people who actualy came up to me and told me they bought his guitar because they always wanted to learn to play and I never had a clue they did and have known these guys for over 20 years. So I guess he got a lot of people to pick up a guitar which is never a bad thing, and what he offered for the price you cant say he was ripping people off.

Come to think of it the world would be a sadder place without him.LMFAO

I'll give you the outsider's point of view.

We dont get him (Esteban) or his comercials in this country. I have every recording ever released by Hendrix. Do I spend my time listening to Hendrix with John Mclaughlin and the Mahavishnu Orchestra, NO. I spend my time cruising youtube looking at the SRV styled troubadour. I couldnt give a toss about the quality of the guitars he sells. My M.O since i was a kid has been to get a crap guitar and make it play like a £2K guitar. (am I the only one that can see he's another SRV fanboy?)

Esteban's got some tasty riffs, you dont see him stuck in the maj/mi pentatonic box shapes. And hey if ever you were facing a charging bull who would you want at your side? A stoned hippy or a half blind guy dressed like a bullfighter. You could get quite a distance between yourself and the bull, whilst it gored Esteban.

If you chose the hippy the bull would just think "I can get the space cadet anytime, I'll have the alert one now".


Esteban the MAN. We need more comercials in the uk. The telly's crap anyway its not like we'd be missing anything.

Dude, it IS flamingo lick. It is when you play a hot riff while asleep, standing on one leg!!! Clapton NEVER played smokin' hot licks while asleep, standing on one leg!! I've never seen it.
Seriously tho, I give Esteban credit in bringing guitars to the public, and encouraging people to play music. He is very positive in his outlook, and is good for the music world with his love of the guitar. And no matter what you think of the guy, he CAN play the guitar pretty well. He sure can play fingerstyle way better than I can.

In honesty, I just watched Esteban on Youtube for the first tome to find out more about him. My question is: would he be considered better than Segovia?

Jimi Hendrix will never have as many of his copied guitars on craigslist, as the man Esteban has. He lets all of his used guitars to be resold to the masses. Kind person. That infomercial made me think that every black acoustic guitar is a POS.
