hi guys,
first post here, i have been playing for about a year and my mexican strat is my first guitar i ever owned, i play mostly blues with it.

My question is in regards to tone , basically i am wondering what type of upgrades i can make to this guitar to increase my tone/sustain etc .

I am looking at either the hot or vintage noiseless pickups but would this be a good time to say upgrade the tremolo bridge? anything else? is it going to make that much of a difference?

sorry if it sounds noob but i really dont have much experience with guitars,
cheers.

What strings and amp do you use ?
Is the pickup heigt set correctly, to low is clean sound but less output
closer to the strings is more output, but don't set them to close.
You could go for a pickup upgrade or use a compressor pedal.

The closer the pickup is to the strings the less sustain you will have, but there will be more pickup output.
For more sustain I recommend either blocking the trem or set it up with 5 springs.

For MIM upgrades

Changing saddles to the graphtech is not a bad move :)
http://www.graphtech.com/

The Callaham bridge block upgrade looks interesting
http://www.callahamguitars.com/upgrades.htm

As does changing to better pickups and or wiring :)

Tuning machines can also be upgraded as can the nut.

All things are options :)
But if you add up the cost of doing them all you might find trading up looks easier :)

GraphTech Saddles tend to guitars sound brighter.

Never be sorry!!! Asking never hurts!
Anyway... I am by any means a Strat specialist, but I also have a Mex Strat and I put a set of Fender Custom Shop 54 on it and also upgrade the bridge with a Wilkinson Vintage style bridge w/ a push in Tremolo bar (hate those screw in!!)
Sounds terrific!! I tried the 57/62's but find the true 54's a more bluesy sound!
Hope that will help!
Fernando.

Hi guys:
I have a double Strat neck guitar (12 on top and 6 at the bottom) that I got from my uncle. He bought the guitar in Canada and it's one of those Mij from the 80's.
I am trying to put it together but don't have the wiring schematics!! NEED HELP!!! Anyone will know how to get it???? I already Emailed Fender Custom Shop, but because it is a MIJ they cannot help!!
I will be willing to pay for the help!
Thanks guys!
Fernando.

Adding a compressor to your fx chain would be an easy way to increase sustain. Every guitar player (IMHO) should have a compressor anyway.

The pickguards mounting screws may be in different positions. Check that closely.
