alright well, I went ahead and got the Americans over the 57/62s....wayyyy better choice and a serious upgrade over the standards. I plugged it in and she sounds sweeter and punchier than ever, with just the right amount of glassiness and shimmer. I love them!!

Thanks for your suggestions!

This is a new one I can honestly say I've never heard before.

Its the fancy black middle ply. Black sound better than white. Geeze Martian...

Of course, a thousand pardons! I must have been having a, "senior moment".

Yet, I know for a FACT because I read it somewhere on the web that they can't compare to OEM Starcaster pickups as they are without a doubt, the "yardstick of tone" which ALL others are judged by!

Martian after you had me checking out Dimarzio areas and Seymour Duncans you now say starcaster pickups are the best :? . This may be true  but I'm going with your original suggestions.

I absolutely love the EMG SA's. I know that's going to have the hardcore vintage guys up in arms, but that's my two cents.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

That Starcaster comment was a remnant of an old joke from here.

Starcaster instruments and their pickups are literally one step above a toy and should be avoided like the plague!!!

Absolutely, go with my original suggestions!!!

Good choice with the American Standards. You don't need "vintage" for what you originally stated was a more substantial yet responsive rhythm need.
