Pray tell what was that? What exactly did I say that was anti american and not simple fact? How did I cast any insult on the sacrifices made by anyone?

Should I ever extol the virtues and forever give praise to America for their part in it? Should I also take the hollywood view that the victory was completely due to American involvement, despite that not being factualy correct? Am I not allowed to believe simple fact and respond from such for fear of knee jerk reactions like the one above? (If I should answer yes to any of the above your idea of freedom is very different to mine).

Merry Christmas.

Hi people: usually I enjoy off-topic stuff, and I love what you've all done with this thread while I've been away. Bewildering and fun!

However, the direction it has just taken seems less positive. The couple of times I've been able to glance at the Forum in the last week I've already seen two threads locked down over this sad and unnecessary row. Personally, I'd find it a really big shame if that happened to this thread.

I take nobody's side in this; I just very politely suggest if people feel they must discuss this thing further perhaps it would be better to start another thread for it...?

And in case it needs saying: I'm English, and have been visiting America since my first time in 1974. I am a big admirer and friend to that country - which is part of why I'm doing this thread celebrating a great American product!!

Let's all be friends.

I'll be home in a few days and promise to apply myself immediately to putting the building work back into this thread.

Meantime, my very best wishes to everyone for the Christmas season.

See y'all soon - C

This is all your fault Ceri, it's like the lady of the house going for one of those long luxurious baths they seem to enjoy, lots of bubbles etc, completely unaware the rest of the household have been waiting .........and waiting........and waiting.........and waiting ..........crossing our legs and..............waiting........then gets to the Lee van cleef , Clint eastwood stage everyones eyeing each other up , who's gonna get to the bathroom door first, do you trust everyone to let you go first as the eldest or is some young gun gonna get there before you, because you know they're feeling the pressure, tapping the knee with their fingers, pained expressions, pacing up and down, easily agitated...........and still the waiting , slowly decending into complete and utter mayhem...........anyhoo Merry Christmas to you to

Ceri,

Hope you had a great Christmas. You are right, I want this thread to continue as well...I cannot wait until the next installment from you. Some of the off topic talk is just different points of views that have nothing to do with re-building a slighlty damaged Strat body. Best wishes and be safe.

I agree! I am American and just want to say, the main reason for this thread is to watch more of the developments with this trashed body as it is being made into a new creation! If we want to talk politics or other things, let's start a new thread. I have a few things I would add, before it got locked down! Maybe when a person has something to say, like was done on this thread, they should send a private message to the person rather than doing it openly. Or even quote on the thread that they are referring back too rather than one on a completely different topic.

I'm glad I missed that exchange; whatever and however it was said.

Let's get back to the rebuild pictures. This "touch up" is taking a while.

I'm guessing ceri is going to install an on-board flanger and a Floyd Rose, so that this guitar will be able to satisfy his Eddie Van Halen dreams.

Yeah, I'll admit that I thought the same thing. That "five minute" comment was off base. I'm not calling any one out here. I just want to credit GTG with saying what was on at least one other's person's mind.

Okay, this thread fell to page 3 and I started getting the shakes. I see that Ceri has checked in, in the midst of his travels and that is good news. Looking forward to the next installment!!

Hope you enjoyed your travels and had a great Holiday, Mr. Ceri. Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Yea, it'd be real nice if this thread could be pinned.

Happy New Year!

Agreed, no need for a fractured history lesson. Moving on, I can't wait to see more pictures of that strat project.
