Ceri,I just read this thread right through I've done some guitar fixes myself over the years but nothing near as complicated and involved as this one you've undertaken.I must say you sir are a woodworking virtuoso.

Can you imagine what The Blue Badger would produce were he let loose in the Corona plant for a few months?

A future masterbuilder?

Never say never.

Erm - I might build as many as two or three guitars. Did you see the page Orville linked to where Mark Kendrick of Fender said that in his first year he finished 46,000 guitars?

How long have I been working on this one already???

Anyway. Thank you all as always for your charming remarks. Fuel for the engine!

Mark wasn't doing any woodworking! The bodies come flying out of CNC lines all routed and shaped and somebody else does final sanding ...

As O.O said, thats just painting. 126 guitars a day in a multimillion dollar factory, with 40 years experience at building them.

Still though 46000 out of one guy, gives some idea to how much they turn out.

No one would expect you to create and design 126 guitars a day. 17 would be more than enough

You'd have a army of underlings to do the actual donkeywork (that sounds voiced from a lot worse an attitude than intended). You could just crack the whip.

Hahaha - very good! :D

But yes, I understood that Mr Kendrick was "merely" finishing those guitars. Even so, when we get there I'm going to bore everyone rigid by taking one to two weeks just to paint this damn thing. Spray, dry overnight, sand - again and again.

I just give advanced warning of the bit where this thread will get very tiresome indeed...

More later.

Cheers - C
