Yes, I agree. And I did promise it somewhere on this thread - and still have done nothing about it.

Got nice recording gear too, so no excuse there. Trouble is, it's always the next number that's the one I want to share.

So happens, the next number is one that would probably be a good demo for a guitar, with no intrusive FX getting in the way. So c'mon, Ceri...!

Cheers - C

Should'a been there as it was all unfolding. It was like one of those old thirteen reel 'Saturday at the movies' adventure serials, with time off so he could climb Mount Etna.

Not only fine skills and knowledge, but Ceri also knows how to keep an audience captivated with his wit and brilliance...and some fine photographic expertise.

A bump after a long time, I wonder if there were any sound clips made with this resurrected axe...

Also, what became of the guitar itself?

Ceri?

It's a sad tale. Definitely a case of "too much, too soon.." The guitar became pompous and over inflated in it's sense of self importance by it's early celebrity and internet notoriety. It moved out of the caring, nurturing home that once sustained it, and threw itself - with some gusto - into the musical fleshpots of Peckham.

It associated itself with way too many flashy guitarists, over endowed with technical wizardry and no real soul. It's (machine) heads were turned by life in the fast lane, and late nights, dangerous chemical polishes and indifferent maintenance routines all took their toll. This once fine instrument became a shadow of it's former self as it's celebrity faded away. In an attempt to regain some of it's former glory, it became associated with the reality TV talent show scene where it found itself used as little more than a stage prop by a series of desperate celebrity wannabees.

Desperate to find some sort of productive musical use, the guitar threw in its lot of with a punk band called "Face Slasher", but it was a hard life. Such a refined instrument was not able to cope with endless Clash and Sex Pistols cover numbers hammered out by ham fisted clods wielding Gibson Ultra Heavy plectrums, and by being used as a dinner plate for macho hot indian takeaways. It was almost a relief when the guitarist got a job in a Double Glazing Call Centre and the band split up.

The guitar was last seen in a Birmingham branch of Cash Converters. It was not in good shape. Its frets were heavily tarnished and worn and it's once beautiful bodywork was covered in scratched swastikas and faded stickers of Alice Cooper. It had 2 missing machine heads and it's twisted neck was adorned by 3 rusted, green strings.

Recognsing it for what it once was, I attempted to buy the instrument with a view to restoration, but it was stolen by ram raiders the day before i was due to pick it up. I regret that I have no further information as to it's current whereabouts.. :( :(

I don't doubt that the Ceri will come on here and give you happy tales of productive use, respect and comfortable retirement.. Don't believe him. He knows the real truth, but is in denial. He was never able to handle the truth about the baby on which he languished so much care and effort. When he does come on here with his vaguely plausible stories, just humour him. It's all desperately sad.. :x :x :(

My sources inform me that the guitar is now in the hands of 'reliablefender', presently waiting the creation of an appropriate COA and neck plate before putting it up for bids on eBay.

Hee-hee-hee!

I'd rather set fire to it. ...Again. :D

Yeah, right! If you only knew. (Perhaps you do...)

Night-time where I am right now, so no photos just this second.

But the real story (believe me, believe me) is that the geet took a bang on the back, unpleasantly chipping the lacquer at the edge of the control cavity cover on the back. Having lived with it a while I'd kinda been feeling the finish wasn't quite the shade of dark red I really wanted in any case. So now it is pulled apart again and waiting for me to get round to re-refinishing it. This time just sanding back to the primer and then color- and top-coating again. I'm wondering about the front as well...

So the story has further chapters to come!

Got a lot on my plate at present, not least if TGS's EJ body shows up in the mail soon. We'll do that one first and then I shall come back and update this thread, if you like.

I'm also off building violins later in the summer - but I suspect that doesn't belong on this particular forum...

Thank you for the bump, Gridlok.

Cheers - C

G'day to you, Doc. I was just going to pop a post or two on TGS's "talk some sense into me" thread, if that was OK with her. But she's suggesting a thread all to itself, so I'm happy to go with that, if people didn't think it a waste of Forum space...?

Perhaps a straight down the line nitro finish job in White Blonde with plenty of photos might be useful for those who sometimes ask about how to do this stuff. Though it's nice to find a way for it to have a spirit of sharing and joint enterprise about it, rather than just a seminar. We don't want self-appointed lecturers round here. So maybe it should just be part of TGS's thread after all?

Anyhow. In the pipeline.

Cheers - C
