I want to buy a 2nd strat in the $500-$650 range. I was considering the Jimmy Vaughn strat or the Lite Ash strat. The Deluxe Roadhouse strat is on sale for about a $100 less than the other two models. Does anyone have one or tried this out. My local store doesn't have any in stock.

I play primarily 70 & 80's Rock & Southern Rock.

It's a nice sounding and playing Strat with Texas Specials. Here are a few reviews :

hey man i actually own a JV sig strat... i have to say that it is quite a good guitar! the tone is awesome and the tex mex pickups are great. neck p/u sounds pretty throaty, neck and mid are nice and clean, middle p/u is a beautiful glassy tone, middle and bridge are a great cluck tone and the bridge p/u is a darn good twangy almost reminiscent of a tele sound.

throw any kinda pedal in front of it, and it's bound to create an enjoyable and confident sound. handles od pedals well... good blues tone. also good rock tones.

it's not like those strats that when heard by your ear but not viewed, are unidentifiable or difficult to identify as a strat. once you hear it, you can't mistake it for anything other than a classic strat type tone. the neck is a soft-v which i adore, and its so smoothe. i love the polyurethane finish, and the medium frets feel real good. i'd say shoot for that, just cuz i have it and it hasn't let me down for the handful of years i have had it. it's a safe bet for good tone, reasonable price, comfort, and construction...

hope this helps ya out :-)
