Hey all!

In a few days I want to buy a Strat with Texas Special pickups or TexMex pickups. The only thing is, that I don't know which Strat models are equipped with these pickups.

I know the Mark Knopfler Strat has them, but I didn't came across any other Strats with those pickups.

Who can help me?

- Steven (30, Amsterdam)

The MIM Deluxe Roadhouse and Lone Star Strats have Texas Specials. The Lone Star has a Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates Plus humbucker in the bridge position... the Roadhouse is all single coil.

The MIM Jimmie Vaughan Artist Series Strat also has Tex-Mex pickups.

The SRV has texas specials as did the MIA lonestar and roadhouse guitars , then they changed the name to Texas Special strat. These guitars had the TS pickups that were custom staggered and had much better string balance IMO.

In response to your poll:

The following is NOT a sarcastic statement. Rather, it is simply a frank one:

The way I see it, one can sell a set of TSs for more than one could sell a set of TMs.

YMMV.

I bought a Deluxe Fat Strat 9 monthes ago. The neck and middle pups are Tex-mex single coils while it came with a Tex-mex humbucker in the bridge. I like having them in the neck and middle position. But I replaced the bridge with a Dimarzio super distortion. I really like this combination. The tex-mex humbucker just didn't have enough bite for me.

I've had Tex-Mex pickups in two of my strats, from one side the road worn 60s and in other hand in my 60th anniversary mexican strat (blizzard pearl finish one). It's very good for the price, I found that It sounded so much more powerful on the RW!!!

Yes, another vote for Tex Mex pups from me. Great tonal range and flexibility ... especially considering the low price point.
