It's ash. Hence the wide grain and the slight price increase.... and Fender's website.

BE FOREWARNED however, that these guitars are all unique, and while most are lovely, a few are just UGLY with blemishes, and a few are beyond gorgeous. If you're going to buy one, buy it in person.

;)

There are SO MANY things that contribute to the tone of a guitar.

The body wood doesn't mean a heck of a lot.

It's an electric guitar.

IF SOMEONE can claim that they can tell the difference, who's can say one is "better" than the other.

Cosmetically Ash can have some beautiful grain and looks great with the transparent colors.

I heard that the ash wood is heavier than the alder. Can anyone really tell the tonal difference? I know the Sienna Sunburst is a real looker!

Most ash have beautiful grain patterns. the weight and grain is effected by location of wood cut from the tree and weather. my sienna burst is a light ash in weight, alot lighter than most other seinna's I have tried, even other alder body strats I've tried. My deluxe ash tele is heavy. It's all personal taste and individual guitars. I can hear the difference in tone on my guitars unplugged, because woods, shapes, etc.,. Plugged in, My ears are not as sharp. As far as which is best, I think it's everyones personal choice, and what feels, sounds and looks good to that person.

If it comes in and you don't like it, I'm in northern Ohio, and my local shops have about 3 between them. One shop has a pair of new ones for about 1100.

So, if you need to send yours back, let me know, and I'll give you the dealers name near me.

OK. Thanks. I sure don't want it to come to that. I'm sure she will be beautiful. If not we'll see!

My advice is to join a free online photo storage site and use their code to make a link to your photo. Photobucket is one such site. I'd love to see yours. Mine is a Sienna Sunburst as well.
