Dave Murray Strat Pickup Question

I was just wondering - what are the things around the pickups on the Dave Murray Strat? Thanks!

They are called mounting rings or bezels. They serve two purposes: 1) They hide a terrible job of cutting out a Strat pickguard to accept humbuckers and 2) Some are angled so that once mounted, the pickups parallel the forward angle of the strings from the bridge across the body towards the neck.
