about 2 months ago i tried to put jazz strings on my Koa Strat. shortly after i realized that i need to tighten everything up and add a spring. so i did that and it still kept going out of tune right away. i got frustrated and stopped playing that guitar for a while. i took the guitar apart the other day and realized that the wood by the trem studs has cracked all the way through. i dont know when it cracked or why. are there any known problems with the koa wood model?

wow if that happened to my gibby lp i'd flip out and have a heart attack  . i'm not sure what to do for fixing though. fender might cover it under the warranty if you have it. i'd take it to a luthier or guitar tech or something of that sort if you don't know what you're doing. i wouldn't monkey around with it anyway because you could make it worse.

I think that the body of the Koa wood Strat is Bass wood with a Koa top. From what I know this is a pretty soft wood compared to the other woods Fender uses.

I would just avoid using such heavy strings. Take the guitar to a good luthier. If you are in the Baltimore and DC area I know of two guys that are great.

I've heard of this problem happening on other types of guitars before (namely Gibsons). If you have some woodworking skills you can fix it, but if not you should take it to a luthier.

ill see if i can find a good luthier in my area.
my local guitar shop is usually good.
but they said that i probably broke it by using the tremolo too hard.
which isnt true because ive had it off for months.
they also think that fender wont replace it.

does any know anything about fenders body warranty?
ive read the page on this site but still not sure how often they end up replacing bodies. i might end up losing money by paying shipping.

If I'm not mistaken the warrenty only covers faulty workmanship.
