hey guys, ordered my strat MIM standard today :D being a lefty they have to order one from fender which will take like a week, i got it in arctic but i totally forgot to ask him what the neck will come in? maple or rosewood?

what feels better is maple just like a really smooth coat when rosewood is more of a wooden acoustic type feel?

You do not have a preference, and we can not predict what preference you will eventually take to ... therefore, just pick the one that looks best to you. In the end, they are both fine with marginal differences. Personally, I'd suggest rosewood which looks great on white guitars

Hmmm... Both look real purdy, but, my preference would be white with a maple board AND all black pickguard and plastic bits.

Doesn´t rosewood give a bit more sustain than maple?

Wow, that's tough one. My strat has a maple neck, and I love it, but I think the next strat I get will have the rosewood fretboard. So, I guess I'd go with the rosewood...

Rosewood Vs Maple

I personally like dark necks better. I had a maple neck guitar once and the neck looked worn in just a few short years. Tone-wise the rosewood sounds warmer as opposed to the bright sound of the maple. However, I have been considering another maple fretboard Stratocaster in the near future.

Post pics when you get yours. As you know we love guitar pics here on the Forum.

No not really. I own both. The Rosewoods seems slightly little warmer to me anyway, and the Maple is a little bit brighter it seems to have a little more snap. Sustain for me has more to do with pups and the amp more than neck wood. The Rosewood is just the fingerboard, not the whole neck. My Strat has a rock maple neck. YMMV

Really there is no wrong decision. One won't make your guitar any less awesome than the other.

Personally I'm a maple man, probably for more cosmetic reasons than anything else; but I have nothing against rosewood.

For a little twang, use a maple neck. If you want a little growl, use a rosewood fretboard. Rosewood helps guitars to have a deeper, bassier tone.
