i figured this subject has been covered to death, but i searched and couldnt find anything

I need a new neck, I know there are lots of options available, but i thought i'd take it to the experts. I not looking for the cheapest necessarily. I know some of the bigger parts companies sell necks that require work still (finishing, fretwork, etc) which i would rather avoid. There are Fender necks on ebay and such, but they usually seem overpriced. I dont really care about the name, but id like something with good sound and built quality, comfortable, that wont need much more than maybe a truss rod tweak. My strat is a Classic Player 60, I think i'd prefer a maple neck, slim/V contour, 7.25 radius, 22 frets (21s cool though), medium to jumbo frets, preferably a Fender style headstock (big is a plus, small is cool) though not necessary. cheers

would you recommend Warmoth over USACG, Musikraft or Mighty Mite?

Personally, I'd go with another Fender. This is not necessarily because they are better than some of the stuff Warmoth, et al. crank out. Rather, with any aftermarket company's stuff, it will turn into a project where after all is said and done, dollar wise, you could have bought another entire MIM Strat! Above all, you know a Fender neck will fit perfectly. Of course, YMMV.

Have you tried Stratosphere? They buy new Fenders, break them down, and sell the parts.

I acquired a Mighty Miite neck (Fender licensed) for my project Strat for cheap -- large headstock, 22 med jumbo frets, modern C, rw board. I have been very happy with it. For whatever its worth ...

I second warmoth, they'll finish your neck if you want them to.

I personally wont give that place a dime of my money. I've heard from a couple people that they sell allot of B stock, and the guy is way overpriced.
There is another guy on ebay whose prices are more in line

The 7 1/4" radius, and medium jumbo frets are whats going to make a real Fender pricy. If you dont mind vintage size frets, you can go with a MIM Classic 57. Another way you may want to go (that im going to) is a Roadworn 50's strat neck. Although I dont like the idea of a beat up neck with the finish worn off (I took the gloss finish off the back of a 62 reissue neck, and I have to adjust the truss rod all the time now because with it not protected, its allot more susceptible to change in temp/humidity). But I like the V-profile, the 7 1/4" fretboard in conjunction with the Dunlop 6105 fret-wire, which is narrow like vintage, but tall like a regular jumbo. I like the roundness at the bottom the the fretboard where you tend to chord more, and Im going to do a compound radius to the frets higher up to allow me to do deeper bends. I could just get a classic 50's, but the cost of the neck, plus the$250-$300 for a re-fret makes it too costly ( I could buy an Eric Johnson neck for that). ANyway, good-luck

The RW 50's neck is the production neck i like the most. I may have to rely on chance/luck to find a good deal online. Ive seen them on Stratosphere, but as previously discussed, too much $$
