I spoke with a salesman in a music shop today telling me that there are new roadworns coming out soon. There is supposedly a higher end, more expensive model and different colors. Can anyone either confirm or deny this?I hope they make 60s dakota red strat and an ash body yellow blonde 50s strat....those would be two definete purchases for 2010!!!

Yeah! I heard the same thing! Apparently, the Custom Shop has this little-known series... I THINK it's called the Time Machine or something? You can get these guitars with CRAZY aging on them! They sell for like 2500 and come in all these colors, and apparently they're hand made outside of Mexico! WOW!!

/sarcasm

Well sarcasm aside, the salesman is actually a very knowlegable guy who wasn't trying pull my leg..he's a guy I know quite well actually....and yes he sells relics in his shop too!!!No confusion there.Time will tell if it is actually true.It is not impossible for the roadworns to expand the line.Think about it,they only offer 2 colors per model presently.According to many dealers, they are great sellers so maybe there is a demand for more options in that series.I hope so.

I for one cant imagine why they never did a white 50's roadworn. White was the other colour for that era, black ones were like rocking horse poo.

Well personally ,if they are higher end guitars , I hope they keep the prices where they are.I thought the original roadworns were way overpriced for what they are.I tried a bunch when they first came out and the quality was terrible.I love the vintage tuners and the 6105 frets.Good concept ,but if they were priced accordingly there wouldnt be anything to complain about. Most of the places that I see, the rw arent really selling well at all.

Same thing here in Toronto. I saw a same bunch or RW guitars on the wall for ages. for $1000 bux i don't think so.
One time I heard a girl asking her father to buy her one of them and her father replied something like "why are these used guitars so expensive"?

I agree, keep them at the same price and fix the fret problemsalong with adding some new colors and they will move more units.

Yeah! A '50s "Mary Kaye" style Road Worn would be cool. That color is "white blonde."

I didn't see any black/rosewood 60's roadworn either.

How about a "blackie" or "the black one" for the fellas with no coin?

Is that white blonde the only colour option they offered at the time? We need Doc's input on that, he'll know.

I always thought the white blonde colour was a result of aging? That wouldnt explain the grain show through though, would it?

KC they do offer a budget blackie in the black 50's roadworn. I was considering it as I've already got the innards. I was gonna put the tex mex's in my customshop and install the clapton tronics in the prospective roadworn.

I just couldnt justify that price though.
