I was wondering what the best strings for a Standard HSS Stratocaster are. I like a higher pitched sound and strings that are good for rock.

i've got the Ernie Ball Heavy Top, Slinky Bottoms on my h,s,s and they sound pretty good. they are 10, 13, 17, 30, 42, 52. maybe try different sets and see what feels the best to you.

BINGO!!! All of my HSS Strats (7 of them!) are strung with these. I consider these my 'signature string'. I LOVE them....nice and chunky on the bass end and not finger busting on the treble side!

Could anyone honestly say that they could bring out three guitars strung up with different brands of strings and identify them. I dont think so. I use D'Addarios because that is what I am just used to asking for. If they dont have them and I get Fenders instead I dont even think about it. I believe gauge is more important than make. Unless it is some cheap string you never heard of.
