Hello, I am new here but I really am impressed with this forum. Anyway I have purchased a used Fender Stratocaster (Made in Mexico) mainly because I dont have the funds for new American. I have owned Strats all my life. This one is equipped with the EMG DG2 pick-up package & the former owner states the body has been replaced. Supposedly it is a 1960's re-issue But I cant find the serial number on Fenders website to know exactly what I have. I am having a hard time buying a New Tremolo arm, the ones I have been getting have been to small in size & do not thread in. So my question is can anyone help me with this serial number & maybe the size of Trem bar I need ?? I want to know what I have & be able to buy upgrades for it !!! :?

MIM Strat
serial # MN1041795

It has the old style saddles that are like round pole pieces the string lays on.

Welcome to the forum. Can you post some pictures for us to look at? Since you say that the body has been replaced it may be some sort of partsacaster.
You can check the serial number out at www.guitardaterproject.org but if parts have been changed out it may not do you any good.

From the link you sent me it is a 1991-92 MIM Strat

I think after the research i have done there are only 2 styles of Trems for these guitars.

Welcome.

That tremolo is a MIM vintage type one. However, from what I can deduce from your pictures, it appears that the hole in the block for the tremolo arm has been bored out somewhat. I could be wrong but again, from what I perceive, that hole does look a bit stretched.

If a standard MIM tremolo arm is too small, your next size up would be an American Standard. If that's still to small, you are now in the realm of the Asian imports where out of convenience, I'd try a Squier arm. If a Squier doesn't fit, then short of replacing the block, you might want to look into a helicoil.

I ordered a vintage trem arm. Looking at the picture of the arm the thread part of the arm does not taper down like the modern version. The threads look ok in the block, not stripped or modified in any way. If that dont fit, yes maybe a new block thank you !!!!
