I might trade my Gibson SG for one but wanted to know how good they are or if there are any known issues.

Thanks

A few people lately are having trouble with tuning stability on heavier strings.

That said it could just be their expectations of the lsr nut and expecting it to perform like a floyd rose.

Is this with or without use of the whammy?
I use 10's so I hope I won't have that issue.

Thanks

well I now have the guitar. Love it so far.

A tip I found on the Stratocaster setup guide for locking tuners.

ADDITIONAL HINTS
There are a few other things that you can do to optimize your tuning stability that have more to do with playing and tuning habits.

Each time you play your guitar, before you do your final tuning, play for a few minutes to allow the strings to warm up. Metal expands when warm and contracts when cool. After you've played a few riffs and done a few dive-bombs, you can then do your final tuning. Remember—with most tuning keys, it's preferable to tune up to pitch. However, with locking tuners, go past the note and tune down to pitch. Finally, wipe the strings, neck and bridge with a lint-free cloth after playing. When transporting or storing your guitar, even for short periods, avoid leaving it anyplace you wouldn't feel comfortable yourself.

Never played one. I've only ever heard JB play his strat, but I'd like to see what kind of tone you can get when using a PICK.

Well it has become my #1 guitar for the last seven years. I love the neck as it is one of the best you will find on any strat. The locking tuners will surely spoil you and are great for maintaining proper tuning. I love the sound of the hot noiseless pups. I just totally love this guitar. The one thing I will warn anyone about it is dont think you are going to be able to abuse the whammy bar like Beck and the guitar is going to hold its tuning. Not even close. I dont know what Beck does or has done but he is not pulling one of the rack. I cant understand how you make a guitar based on one of the greatest abusers of the bar ever and it cant hold its tuning for $@!&.I was never big on the bar as a player anyway and maybe that is because they always go out of tune unless it is a Floyd Rose. The Strat I will pull out to mess around with the bar is my Ultra as it does a pretty fair job but then again it has a non locking Floyd on it. It always brings me back to a story Randy Rhoads told. After seeing Vanhalen for the first time he went back stage and asked him how he was able to keep his strat in tune(VH before using Floyd) and Eddie said oh I cant tell you that it is a thing Jeff Beck showed me. Kind of messed up on Eddies part and a reason Randy did not care for him. But I wish Beck would show us all. Though I have seen many players who have this down really good.
