I just brought this home...

It is 2 tone sunburst, nickel/silver color vintage tuners, 2007 MIM serial number on back and a decal that says Fender Special Edition. Vintage style spaghetti Fender decal with original contour body on front headstock. One string tree, aged knobs and covers with white single ply 8 hole pick guard.

Here is the confusing part. It has a rosewood neck with the older truss rod adjustment down by the neck pocked/pickguard.

I have a newer catalog and could not find any non artist related 8 holes with a rw neck especially with the older truss rod setup.

I can post pictures later if needed.

Any idea?

Sorry if this is an easy one

Sounds like an FSR ( Factory Specialty Run) MIM strat modeled after a '59 strat.

This one has a single ply white, didn't the 59s have 3 ply? The person I bought it off of said it was all stock and the pickguard still has the plastic on it.

I got an email into Fender Cust Service, see if they get back to me.

Could be a parts-o-caster then. Classic 50s body with a FSR neck, but pics will help out greatly

Nice. That's what I was thinking you had (or else it was a partsocaster).

5760: the neck like a 1960 and the body like a 1957.

Ah right. I would have said a Classic 50s model myself, but seems you got an answer right from the horse's mouth..

Mind telling us what you paid for that Special Edition 5760 MIM?

Got it for about $300. Private sale from original owner. I think he said he paid about 700 for it. He just never used it and simply wanted it gone. Honestly, I thought it was either fake or a partscaster until I saw it in person and had a chance to talk to the owner.

For those interested, the link below has a picture of a 5760 about a third of the way down the page.

CAUTION: trying to open that link produced a malware warning from my virus software.

Maybe nothing, maybe something...
