Hi, I'm looking to buy an American Deluxe Strat, because I'm looking for one pretty versatile guitar. And also, I like the Olympic White one with the tortoise scratchplate. But I don't exactly have money to spare. I also like Teles an awful lot, but they're not as versatile as Strats, or are they. I dont know.

HELP!

Sam.

If you're really in that much of a quandry between the two, buy one each of the MIM models. They are great guitars for the money and you can own both for the price of one MIA.

And no, a Tele is NOT as versatile as a Strat. As a matter of fact, there is no guitar on the planet better or more versatile than a Strat!

If you have decided on an American made Fender I would buy the Strat first. You can always buy a Tele later on.

Yeah I gotta agree with what people are saying here, in terms of versatility you definitely want to go with a Strat first.

My suggestion is look toward the used market (One in mint condition preferably, there are a lot out there) or see if you can score on Black Friday, either way it should save you some green >_>

Thank guitarists, I do like playing used guitars. It feels like it's been places before. But I'm not sure, I could get a Mexican made. Hey, sorry to change the topic, but is there that much of a difference between Mexican made and American made.

Sam.

You could spend the rest of your life reading the threads on this one! (See recent thread on exactly that question 'MIM Strats'.)

All I'll say is the 2009 MIM Standard may surprise you as much as it did me last week, when I put my prejudice to one side and actually tried one.
