How many folks here use the same strings on their accoustic guitars that you use on your strat or any electric for that matter? What I am looking for is what is it like to play an accoustic with strings wound for electric guitars?

I use custom made sets using Dean Markley Blue Steel Electric and Dean Markley Flatwound Electric on both my Electric and Acoustic guitars.

I never tried that. I always liked Fender electric strings and Martin acoustic strings.

When I was a kid I would recycle my electric guitar strings onto my acoustic. They sounded like crap. Use the right strings.

I have tried electric strings on my acoustic, then i put on acoustic strings. My advice is to use acoustic strings. It will give your acoustic a fuller sound and more resonance because of the string gauge maybe? I guess you could use electric strings but just shoot for a heavier gauge maybe.

I've tried a lot of things over the course of many years and I'd say that in the end it's best to use the kind of strings recommended by the manufacturer. My acoustic guitar is built for medium strings. I tried lighter strings because I wanted to be able to bend a little more. But the lighter strings couldn't move the top enough, and that made the overall sound weak. Back to mediums. Some day I'll buy an acoustic guitar made for light strings. They're out there.
