I opened up my guitar today to put some SCNs in thinking it would be an easy job - theres plenty of vids on the net and Fender even provide a diagram.

Well, what i didnt expect was to see a mass of wires that only closely resembled the Fender pic.

I dont know what i have, but the closest (very close) is the ERIC CLAPTON UPGRADE, although i dont have one of these as far as i know.

Anyway, my problem is my SCNs are really hummy because i wired it according to the ones i took out and not the diagram, am i doing something wrong and PLEASE which wiring config is this!

Well firstly we need to know what guitar your working on. What other complications are affecting performance?

If the guitar is a clapton or powerhouse strat all you have to do is solder the green and black wires to the base of the volume pot and the white, yellow and red wires to their respective switch positions.

Well that's the problem, its a mexican fender strat I bought 10 years ago new, that's all I know but the wiring doesn't match any schematic

The pickups work, the noiseless bit doesn't, so I guess the question is, what could cause hum on a supposed noiseless coil? And its definately hum, if I turn away from computer its all but silent.

Btw, my volume pot has EIGHT wires soldered, my 6 from the SCN and 2 preexisting...
