Hello,

I'm making some improvements to my old squire, starting with the tuning heads!

I want to find a locking variation of the current tuners, but I can't find ones with the same screw layout. They are almost rhombus shaped, with a screw in the top left, and another screw in the bottom right.

What I want to know -
- Will I be able to find decent replacements ( e.g. locking or just better ones) that will fit straight in these holes?
- will be be easier to makes some holes - or perhaps just use one of each pair of holes?

Apologies as I am obviously a complete beginner at customising!

I've order new pickups and electrics, but next I'll tackle the vibrato and nut - if anyone can help with this also ( i.e. recommend suitable replacements) I would really appreciate it.

Many thanks for any info!

All the best [/img]

Col, it souinds like you have a type similar to what they call the "F" vintage tuners I think. The bad news is, it's very hard to match up any Squier parts from Fender parts. I just customized a 2006 Squier QMT strat- went from the chrome hardware to all gold. I was extremely lucky with everything EXCEPT the tuners- those I had to drill an extra screw hole for. The most important thing is to make sure the post holes are the same size- those you're better off not messing with. And I got all of the stuff I needed from ebay.

Ahhh, thought as much.

I did see those F tuners, though mine seem to be an back to front variation of them!

Ok so I'll take one off and measure up the size I need to get, then just look for a decent looking one suitable for all strat necks. Hopefully won't be too bad.

Thanks for your help!
