I picked it up last weekend, seems like he's returned to the type of music he became famous for. Honestly I do like his cover of Crossroads, it's very Mayerish. :D

the only thing about BS I didn't like is that he used that damn J. Beck strat for most of it, other than his '52, and The Black One.

not a Beck Strat fan. love the guy, but I just cannot bear playing one of his sigs.

John Mayer has to be the most polarizing man on the planet right now. I would call myself a fan so take this for what it's worth but I think most people who don't like his music don't like him on a personal level and will never admit that he's a talented musician. Growing up there were so many actors, athletes and musicians that I simply didn't like and I couldn't even tell you why other than "I just don't like the guy." Personally I hated John Mayer's music until I heard "Continuum". His pop radio friendly stuff is still not my cup of tea but that album in particular resonated with me. It got me to look past my view of him and really listen to his stuff. Now I think he's quite funny and I think I "get" him. My biggest thing is that to me personally I try and appreciate any artist who has the balls to get up in front of any crowd and play what came out of their heart. Nothing could be more exposing or amazing than that. I admire the people on here who have gigged or are professional musicians no matter what they play or how they play. I don't get the attitude that comes out of a lot of people. There will always be stars who get too much attention whether we think it's deserved or not. What gets me is the backlash that comes with being popular. Anyone who claims that they don't want attention or fame for their music is lying because if you didn't care then why would you perform for people? If you happen to do well and be popular than you're usually labeled as a sellout. I say enjoy what you enjoy and appreciate all of the amazing players out there no matter their genre. Life is too short to be complaining about John Mayer and if that's the biggest issue you have to deal with then congratulations because things are going pretty well for you.

Nope, I just don't find his playing or tone original. Don't really care for his lyrics either. I didn't like him the first time I heard him. Had nothing to do with his personality at all. His blues to me seem uninspired. I've never had a song of his stuck in my head. They have no hook. If I thought he was great, I'd be the first one to admit it. I actually like "The Shaggs" better.

He's the David Cassidy of the 21st century.

He's inoffensive compared to most of the garbage on the radio, and can certainly play and sing well. I don't dislike him at all, but I do think he's overrated.

It's not a silly little moment,
It's not the storm before the calm.
This is the deep and dying breath of
This thread that we've been posting on.

All you haters hanging out in a Mayer thread how cute.
Mayer has more Strats, hits, blues and woman than you. :D
If you disagree please post yourself with one of the above.
