Hi all

just joined. i initially joined to find the age of my fender strat. i inherited it from my dad who passed in 2006 and it was his passion playing his american black and white strat blues style. its been on display in my living room for 3 years, now it feels right to pick it up and learn. i have found out she is a 1996/97 strat from corona plant.

I have just started lessons from a tutor who really liked my old mans axe, and its lovely to hear it play again.

I have no major expectations except to learn the art of patience, be able to play some blues/ rock in the coming years and re-connect with my old man. i swear that guitar has his soul.

anyway this is bit of a spiritual thing for me, my musical tastes are: pink floyd, zz top, chris rea, snowy white, hendrix.
i hope to pick up some good advice in here.

thanks
booble

Welcome to the forum booble,

It's great that you have decided to learn to play your dad's Strat, after all, that's what they're built for.

I too am in the UK (Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire). There are a lot of knowlegable people here on the forum so I'm sure you'll find all the info you need.

Good luck with the lessons, stick with it, it's tricky at first but you will soon get the hang of it!

Russ

Welcome!

I think that your learning how to play on your father's guitar would really make him smile. Truly, I find it a wonderful gesture.

Guitar is not an easy instrument to get started on, regardless of what you may think. Hang in there though because once you get over that beginner's hump, you'll start progressing quite nicely. And don't forget, we're all here for you!!

Oh, and as you may or may not know, I'm a Stratocaster enthusiast through and through. You couldn't own a better guitar on the planet!!

You're in good company.

No matter how far along any of us are, we're all on the same path toward what I like to call OUR best playing.

Hi Booble (great name) i picked up the guitar as a hobby a while back and
had lessons using just an acoustic. I have just 2 electrics, both strats,
Fenders just appealed the most when it came down to it.

Welcome to the forum.

.. Al also in England.

Welcome. Its great to hear of your connection to your dad through that guitar. I have a Washburn Force II HH hardtail Strat style guitar that my dad left to me. I dont play it alot, but its nice to get it out of the case once in a while. He used to play alot of Country on it when he was alive.

hi orvilleowner, not listened to his recent stuff but believe he's working on a new album. i've seen him play live supporting roger waters in 2001, and he was very impressive.
