Actually, what I was whispering to my wife was that Forum user ZZDoc doesn't like the classical music takeoff (Bach I think?) Joe is about to go into at that point. The second time ZZDoc's views had been mentioned in the course of that gig...

Well......flattery will get you everywhere. I thank you for giving consideration to an observation(s) of mine during such a relevant occasion. I'm due for a JB addition to my collection. That would be the most recent release, correct?

By the way Ceri....watching Joe on that second link with Eric.....my grandfather used to move like that, spurred on by a different kind of spirit. 8). I listened with interest to the audio in that short piece . Les Paul notwithstanding, the tone and the feel was decidedly Clapton, even to the register in which it was played. I suppose influences run deep and are expressed unconsciously.

But I digress. I suspect that the guitar in the OP was the one we saw him playing on a vid link posted in a thread elsewhere which I identified as a Clapton after much close scrutiny. I suppose the juice is worth the squeeze for a collector desiring a Strat seasoned with JB's sweat.

Best of luck in the bidding who ever you are. Better yet....buy it outright.

Some guy is selling Joe Bonamassas Clapton Strat on Ebay for $3,999 buy it now or best offer. As usual my handicapped PC skills dont let me show you a direct link. I have to learn to do that as it annoys even me.lol But it seems legit as he has a dvd to document it and written papers from Joe to say it is authentic. It is a 95 or 96 model and not a bad price if you are a big fan.

Had one like that in my time. Now own an '89 in Pewter. 4K is too much for mojo. Doesn't even supply the serial number. Is it Custom Shop or Artist? My guess is that your price is about 3K for perspiration and the rest for a used guitar.

Hi Doc: then just to complete the story, the first time your name was mentioned that night was while the stage was being set for the main act. A roadie walked across holding a pale blue Strat and I said to the Missus that I'd never known JB to play one like that - but that you had told us the Custom Shop had recently made one for Clapton.

And lo, a few numbers in the man himself strolled out onto the stage. How clever I seemed!

The lesson: if we want to look look more knowledgeable than we really are learn to quote The Doctor!

Cheers - C

Too, too kind, mate. Infalibilty is not my strong suit. I just keep trying. What's more important here is you're having been in the right place at the right time. What a coup!

Doc

Interesting thread- I wonder if there are any administrators that care to shed light on this subject??

There ALWAYS has to be ONE tattletale in the bunch!!

Do you honestly think ANYONE at Fender will 'fess up to this??!!
Nevermind DISCUSS it !!!

Again....this is coming from the man himself....why would he lie!??

He's obviously hurt! He has used Stratocasters all his life and this was an insult!

Don't for a minute think that Joe would lie about this - but there are always two sides to every story.
And I don't remember seeing a reliced Gold strat available anywhere - did I miss it?

It indeed was a Custom Shop item!

I did a little 'googling' and came up with this.
This very well may be the cause of the 'feud' between Joe and Fender.
I could be wrong.....

How many sides COULD there be?
FENDER stupidly refused him.....
GIBSON smartly accepted him..... :D

I am actually the guy selling Joe's Strat on ebay

It is a regular production model, not Custom Shop
I did not post the serial number for counterfeiting reasons

By the serial it is 95-96 production

Totally cool guitar

You gotta be "in the loop" :-)

Or purchase them when they become available
They pop up on the bay from time to time

I used to own one of Richie Sambora's
The one he used on the Crush DVD
Another cool piece
Was a Todd Kraus Masterbuilt
